Reproductive Counseling

There are many ways to create the family you want – from the good old fashioned to the medically or third-party assisted.  But no matter how you become a parent, the path itself can present both logistical and emotional challenges.  I work with reproductive psychiatrists, fertility physicians, adoption attorneys, egg and sperm donor and surrogacy agencies, and intended parents to provide help for individuals and couples in the following areas:

Prenatal, Perinatal and Postpartum

  • Emotional Aspects of Pregnancy
  • Pregnancy Loss
  • Feelings involved in pregnancy termination or selective reduction
  • Pressures of infertility while keeping the couple bond strong
  • Creating a birth plan
  • Understanding differing parenting expectations
  • Taking care of a premature baby
  • Post-partum depression, anxiety or difficulty bonding with baby
  • Body image issues related to pregnancy or post-partum
  • Sexual changes from pregnancy through post-partum

Third-Party Assisted Reproduction–Physician Services

  • Egg donor and surrogate psychological evaluations
  • Letter to physician for recipients

  • Help navigating the adoption process
  • Guidance in writing “dear birth parent” letters
